ANGELO SOLDINI
ITALY
1909-1984
Master sculptor of the modern age whose life as
an artist closely mirrored the greatness of the
sculptor of all time Michelangelo. The dexterity
in his art was unmatched. The precision of his chisel
produced marble creations that boggled the mind.
The
“Titan Collection” was chiselled with
meticulous precision in multi layered marble and
onyx, one would swear was cloth. The ebony black
contours of the Nubian figures were living breathing
entities.
The
“Majestic Eagle” has a life inspiring
spellbinding posture in flight, the talons poised
to capture its unsuspecting prey. The sheer power
is flashing from the eagle’s piercing eyes.
Soldini is one with the creature. The craggy mountain
peak is the proud eagles domain.
“Girl
Dreaming” is a marvel sculpture in its simplicity
and purity. The white Carrera marble seemingly flows
like water from the crown to the toes of this serene
angelic figure.
Soldini’s
“Head of David” could have been carved
by Michelangelo himself.
His
most Avant-garde Carrera Marble Structures are the
chiselled “Fountain Collection”. The
painstaking carvings are hand hewn with the precision
of a modern lathe. Soldini’s genius is clearly
manifested in these magnificent works, revolutionary
in concept and design. The mathematical geophysical
configurations are exacting and timeless, centuries
past of the pyramids, Neptune’s Greek Mythological
Goddess, the sphere of the Galaxy and the wave of
oceans.
Soldini’s
love of women is exemplified in his work “Serenity”.
It is with great tenderness and affection that he
portrays the figure holding a bird.
His
greatest imagination takes shape in his “Abstract
Marble Structures”. “Cobra Pose”
is one such exemplaire of the classic style. The
delicate pink marble highlights the purity of line
and form. His
works are in major galleries and private collections
worldwide.
