Marita was born, raised and educated in Moscow, Russia. She grew up loving art and practising art: at the Moscow art school and at the famous Moscow State Tretyakov Gallery. She earned her Master's Degree in Languages from Moscow University, but most important to her was her art.

The summer of 1974, Marita made the most important decision in her life. She decided to immigrate to Canada. For years, Marita's art career lay dormant. Then, one day, her art miraculously resurfaced and possessed her. A new art with a power that sometimes frightens her but with a certainty, a sureness, a boldness she had never before dared to assert but that she could no longer ignore. Look at Marita's paintings, React to them honestly. In addition, you will almost surely feel what Marita feels -- freedom without limit, at last, an exhilarating sense of liberation and release.

The long wait has been worthwhile and -- dare we say it? -- The timing exactly right. For Marita, because it allowed her and her glorious, individual talent the time it needed to ripen, mature and grow strong. And for us, privileged to partake of and share her gift, her art, and her bravery.
